Dis-Chem Pharmacies are in need of the services of a trustworthy Post Basic Qualify Pharmacist Assistant destined for their Platinum Park store. Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matrix
  • Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification
  • Be affiliated with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
  • Computer literate – Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Comprehensive numerical skills
  • Strong understanding of the English language and a second language
  • Be ready and able to work retail hours and after hours


  • Understanding of Retail and Fast Moving Consumer Goods operations
  • More Additional Language
  • Knowledge of or an experience in Unisolv, SAP and E-Scripting
  • Drug and family planning, and complementary medicine

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medications or scheduled substances
  • Help with the compounding, manipulation or preparation of a non-hygienic medication or arranged substance according to a plan and normal working processes approved by the in charge pharmacist
  • Help with the manufacturing of a non-hygienic medication or scheduled substance according to a formula and normal working processes approved by the in charge pharmacist
  • Help with the re-packaging of medicine
  • Help with the supply and control of the stock of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medications or scheduled substances
  • Help with the ordering of medication and scheduled substances up to, and including, Schedule 6 according to an instruction of an individual authorized in terms of the Medicines Act of buying or obtaining such medication or scheduled substance
  • Help with the interpretation and ground work of a prescription’s choice, manipulation or compounding of the medication; the naming and supply of the medication, in an suitable container next the interpretation and evaluation of the medication by a pharmacist
  • Accurately read scripts and act in a professional and accountable manner and within the allowed requirements in agreement with the SAPC
  • Take writings details accurately, and verify patients’ details on the system
  • Make sure that you are accurately selecting or packing or naming and checking of medication and be aware of common dosages as well as important remedy interactions
  • Make sure to give accurate instructions to patients regarding the correct use of medication supplied
  • Keep abreast of modifications in medical aid ways and necessities for claims and dispensing
  • Make sure all medications are tested for correctness by and signed by a pharmacist
  • Guide and assist patients at the dispensary, self-treatment and front-shop
  • Keep an eye on with patients concerning script tracking report as requested by the dispensary manager, and follow up on schedules
  • Give details of medical aid costs to patients and customers
  • Make information available to individuals in order to encourage health
  • Process all the bookkeeping that are essential for the precise submission of claims to medical aids
  • Spot on errors on scripts prohibited by medical aid
  • Make sure of authorization of chronic, HIV and AIDS and oncology medication
  • Keep up with customer profiles on the system
  • Join profiles locally and UCS have a duty to be notified to merge profiles centrally
  • Take memorandum of any communication on the customer profile, and take an appropriate action
  • Account on low or out of stock levels, and stock errors to the dispensary manager
  • Take delivery of dispensary stock in agreement with Dis-Chem’s SOPs, and range according to FEFO
  • Assist on bi-annual stock taking
  • Practice stock, cash and assets control
